Gamecocks+ Set To Release “Black Magic” Series

In the early 1980s, South Carolina football was searching for an identity, a program hungry for respect on the national stage.

Under second-year head coach Joe Morrison, the 1984 Gamecocks did just that and started a cultural shift in Columbia.

“Black Magic: The Story of the 1984 Gamecocks” is an original series by Gamecocks+ that will take fans through the historic season through the eyes of players, journalists and lifelong fans.

A four-part series, each episode will walk you through the high intensity of Morrison and the magical games that turned into one of the best seasons in program history. Episode 1 will premiere on Tuesday, October 7th, followed by Episode 2 on Tuesday, November 11th. The final two episodes will drop simultaneously in December.

What began with a gritty-fought win over The Citadel continued with memorable wins over Georgia, Duke, Notre Dame, and Clemson.
